Bath paint is a fantastic way to bring some extra calm to the end of the day. It is easy to make with ingredients you likely have in your kitchen, and will wow your child with the fun factor of getting to paint in the bath.

Bath paint in primary colors

Materials

  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 cup water
  • Water soluble food or soap color
  • (Optional: you can add essential oil for fragrance if you know how to use them safely with children)
  • (Optional: add a bit of your child’s favorite bubble bath in place of the water for some sudsy color fun!)

Instructions

Simply mix all the ingredients together and divide into containers before stirring in color. I have used both natural food color and artificial soap color and both have worked well and cleaned easily. However, use your discretion when doing this—I haven’t used every brand of color out there and can’t ensure you won’t stain your tub. If you’re uncertain, do a test patch first. You should be fine with any soap colorants intended for bath bomb coloring, which is what I usually use.

I hope this easy paint recipe provides you with as many hours of joy as it has for us. Have fun!
