Easter Egg Shaped Bird Feeders

This is a fun craft to do with your 1.5+ year olds. It is definitely product based, but still a fun way to engage with your child and backyard nature.

Materials

  • 2 cups bird seed,
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 T powdered gelatin
  • Plastic eggs
  • Yarn and large needle for hanging

Instructions

Mix together gelatin and boiling water. Let it set for a few minutes, then stir in bird seed. Fill your plastic eggs with the mixture and pop them in the fridge for a few hours. Carefully take them out of the egg molds and string them some loops with a needle and thread. Have your little helper decide where they should be hung!

You can double or triple this recipe if you want to fill lots of eggs.

Have fun!
