Baby’s First Painting

This process based art play is a great way for your under 1 year old to experience painting without the mess. Big siblings LOVE to help with this one, also.

Materials

  • Gallon ziplock bag
  • Paper
  • Paint (we use washable tempera)
  • Masking tape to tape bag to floor

Instructions

  1. Set up the paint play invitation by putting some paint on a piece of paper and sliding it into ziplock bag, then closing tightly and securely taping to the floor.
  2. Model the possibilities of how to use the materials
  3. Let your baby explore.

Ms. 9.5 months has been exploring painting using this method since she was about 3 months old.

Have fun!
