Nature Play

Mud Faces

This is magical nature sensory play to engage in with your 1.5+ year old. It doesn’t get much better than squishy mud on a sunny day!

Materials

  • Mud
  • Loose parts from nature

Instructions

  1. Mix up some good, sticky mud.
  2. Slap it on a tree.
  3. Create faces with interesting bits of nature.

We made these mud faces almost a week ago and they are still on our tree!

I originally found this activity in one of my favorite books for nature play ideas: “Play the Forest School Way” by Jane Worroll and Peter Houghton. I love this book and highly suggest it if you, too, like to play the forest school way!

Have fun!
